தமிழ்த் தேசியத்தை நேசித்த மாஸ்டர் சிற்றம்பலம் இயற்கை எய்தினார்!

கனத்த இதயத்தோடு உங்கள் முன் நிற்கிறேன்.

சிற்றம்பலம் மாஸ்டர் எனது 46 ஆண்டு கால நண்பர். 1980 ஆம் ஆண்டு இறுதியில் பணி நிமித்தமாக நான் நைஜீரியாவுக்குச் சென்ற பின்னர்தான் அவருடனான நட்புத் தொடங்கியது. நான் பவுச்சி மாநிலத்தில் பணியாற்றிக் கொண்டிருந்தேன். அவர் கடுனா மாநிலத்தில் உள்ள ஒரு பள்ளிக்கூடத்தில் ஆசிரியராகப் பணியாற்றினார். இரண்டுக்கும் இடையிலான தூரம் சுமார் 400 கிமீ. சிற்றம்பலம் மாஸ்டர்  எனக்கு முன்னரே  நைஜீரியா சென்று  விட்டார். கடுனாவில் இருந்த எனது மற்றொரு நண்பர் மூலமாகவே அவரை முதன்முதலில் சந்திக்கும் வாய்ப்பு கிடைத்தது. அந்தச் சந்திப்பு பின்னர் நாற்பத்தாறு ஆண்டுகள் நீடித்த ஆழமான நட்பாக மலர்ந்தது.

எண்பதுகளின் இறுதியில் நாங்கள் இருவரும் கனடாவுக்குப் புலம்பெயர்ந்த பின்னரும் அந்த நட்புத் தொடர்ந்தது. நாடுகள் மாறின. சூழல்கள் மாறின. ஆனால் எங்களது நட்பு மாறவில்லை.

கடந்த வியாழக்கிழமை காலை வழக்கம்போல் மருத்துவப் பரிசோதனைக்காக மருத்துவமனைக்கு மாஸ்டர் சிற்றம்பலம்  சென்றிருக்கிறார். பரிசோதனையை முடித்துக்கொண்டு மதியம் வீடு திரும்பினார். மதிய உணவை உட்கொண்ட பின்னர் குளியலறைக்குச் சென்றவர் மீண்டும் திரும்பி வரவில்லை.

அவர் அடிக்கடி என்னிடம் கூறுவார்: “மிஸ்டர் தங்கவேலு, படுக்கையில் கிடந்து அவதிப்படாமல் சட்டென்று போய்விட வேண்டும்” என்று. அவரது அந்த விருப்பம் நிறைவேறியுள்ளது. காலன் யாரையும் விட்டுவைத்ததில்லை.

அவர் மறையும்போது அவருக்கு அகவை 92. என்னைவிட ஒரு அகவை குறைவு. இருந்தும் இந்தப் பயணத்தில் என்னை முந்திச் சென்றுவிட்டார். கல்லூரிக் காலத்தில் அவர் திறமையான உதைப்பந்தாட்ட வீரர். உதைப்பந்தாட்ட வீரர் என்றால் நன்றாக ஓடத் தெரிய வேண்டும். என்னை முந்திச் சென்றதற்குக் காரணம் அதுவாக இருக்கலாம் என்று நினைக்கிறேன்.

கடைசிக் காலம் வரை தாயக அரசியல், நாட்டு அரசியல், பூகோள அரசியல் ஆகியவை பற்றி மணிக்கணக்கில் பேசிக்கொண்டிருப்பார். தாயக அரசியலோடு நெருக்கமான ஈடுபாடு இருந்தது. கடைசிக் காலத்தில்  அவரது மாணவர்களாக இருந்து பின்னர் இணையர்களாக மாறிய திரு குணநாதனும் திருமதி ரேவதி குணநாதனும் அவரோடு நாட்தவறாமல்  உரையாடுவார்கள். அவர்களுடன் அவருக்கிருந்த நெருக்கம் தனித்துவமானது.

பல்கலைக் கழகத்தில் படித்துப் பட்டம்பெற்று முதன் முதல் மானிப்பாய் இந்துக் கல்லூரியில் ஆசிரியராகச் சேர்ந்த  காலத்தில் குணநாதனும் ரேவதியும் அவரது மாணவர்கள். இருவருக்கும் இடையில் காதல் மலர்ந்திருந்தது. ஆனால் அக்காலத்தில் காதலர்கள் நேருக்கு நேர் பேசுவது எளிதல்ல. கடிதங்கள்தான் அவர்களது பாலமாக இருந்தன. அந்தக் கடிதங்களுக்கு ஒரு தபால்காரர் தேவைப்பட்டார். அந்தப் பொறுப்பை ஏற்றுக்கொண்டவர் சிற்றம்பலம் மாஸ்டர்.

அவரும் அப்போது ஒரு இளைஞர்தான். காதல் நோய் காதலர்களை எப்படிப் பாடுபடுத்தும் என்பது அவருக்குத் தெரிந்திருந்தது. மாஸ்டரும் லேசுப்பட்டவர் அல்ல. தனக்குக் கைரேகை பார்க்கத் தெரியும் என்று சொல்லி மாணவிகளின் கையைத் தடவிப் பலன் சொல்வாராம்!

இவை எனக்கு எப்படித் தெரியும் என்று நீங்கள் கேட்கலாம்.

தொண்ணூறுகளில் வட அமெரிக்கத் தமிழ்ச் சங்கப் பேரவை ஆண்டுதோறும் அமெரிக்காவில் மூன்று நாள் மாநாட்டை நடாத்துவதை வழக்கமாகக் கொண்டிருந்தது. கனடா தமிழீழச் சங்கம் அதில் ஒரு உறுப்பினர். எனவே சங்கத்தின் சார்பில் மாஸ்டர், குணநாதன், ரேவதி குணநாதன், மறைந்த முருகேசு துரைசாமி, மறைந்த அருட்தந்தை சேவியர்,  சிவசேகரம், நான், எனது துணைவியார் ஆகியோர்  தவறாது கலந்து கொள்வோம்.

ரொறன்ரோவில் இருந்து அண்ணளவாக இரண்டு நாள் பயணம். ஆயிரக்கணக்கான கிலோமீட்டர் கார் ஓட்டம். அந்த நீண்ட பயணங்களில் அரசியல், கலை, இலக்கியம், பண்பாடு, சமயம், கடவுள் என்று எதனையும் விட்டு வைப்பதில்லை.  காரசாரமான விவாதங்கள் நடைபெறும். அப்போது வெளிவந்த கதைகளில் ஒன்றுதான் இந்த குணநாதன் – ரேவதி காதல் வரலாறும், அதில் சிற்றம்பலம் மாஸ்டர் வகித்த “தூதுவர்” பணியும்!

சிற்றம்பலம் மாஸ்டர் போராட்டக் காலத்தில் தமிழீழ விடுதலைப் போராட்டத்திற்கு ஆதரவாகவும் வலு சேர்ப்பராகவும் இருந்தார். போரில் ஆயுதங்கள் மவுனிக்கப்பட்ட  பின்னரும் நண்பர்களுடன் உரையாடும்போது, “தமிழீழம் அகிம்சை வழியில் சாத்தியமில்லை; ஆயுதப் போராட்டம்தான் ஒரே வழி” என்ற கருத்தை வலியுறுத்துவார். அந்தக் கோட்பாட்டில் கடைசிவரை உறுதியாக இருந்தார்.

சிற்றம்பலம் மாஸ்டர் எப்போதும்  அறிவு பூர்வமாகவும் சிந்திப்பவர். நேராகவும் தயக்கமின்றியும் பேசுபவர். பொதுப் பணிக்குத் தன்னை முழுமையாக அர்ப்பணித்தவர்.

தமிழீழச் சங்கத்தின் செயலாளராகவும் பின்னர் தலைவராகவும் பணியாற்றியவர். உலகத் தமிழர் இயக்கத்தின் தலைவராக நீண்ட காலம் பொறுப்பு வகித்தவர்.

அரசியல், சமயம் போன்ற பல விடயங்களில் எனக்கும் அவருக்கும் ஒற்றுமை இருந்தது. இருவரும் பகுத்தறிவாளர்கள். கடவுள் மறுப்பாளர்கள். என்மீதும் எனது குடும்பத்தின்மீதும் அளவற்ற அன்பு கொண்டவர்.

கடைசியாக அவரை குணநாதன் – ரேவதி பிறந்த நாள் கொண்டாட்டத்தில் சந்தித்தேன். அருகருகே அமர்ந்து உரையாடினோம். ஒன்றாக உணவருந்தினோம். அதுவே அவரோடான கடைசிச் சந்திப்பாக இருக்கும் என்று அப்போது நான் சிறிதும் எதிர்பார்க்கவில்லை. அதன் பின்னர் அவரது 92 ஆவது பிறந்த நாளன்று தொலைபேசியில் வாழ்த்துச் சொன்னேன்.

சிற்றம்பலம் மாஸ்டர் எதற்கும் அஞ்சாதவர். துணிச்சல்காரர். வெளியுறவு அமைச்சு அதிகாரிகளுடன் பேசும்போது வெட்டொன்று துண்டிரண்டாக ஆங்கிலத்தில் சரளமாகப் பேசக்கூடியவர். அவரது ஆங்கிலப் புலமை எங்கள் எல்லோரையும் விட மேலானது. அன்னாரது மறைவு கனடா வாழ் தமிழ் மக்களின் வரலாற்றில் மிகவும் சவாலான ஒரு காலகட்டத்தின் நினைவுகளை மீண்டும் அசைபோட வைத்துள்ளது.

2006 ஆம் ஆண்டு ஏப்ரல் மாதத்தில் கனடா அரசு தமிழீழ விடுதலைப் புலிகளை ஒரு பயங்கரவாத அமைப்பாகப் பட்டியலிட்டுத் தடை செய்தது. இரண்டு ஆண்டுகளுக்குப் பின்னர், 2008 ஆம் ஆண்டு யூன் மாதத்தில் உலகத் தமிழர் இயக்கமும் தடை செய்யப்பட்டது.

தடையை அடுத்து உலகத் தமிழர் இயக்கத்தின் இயக்குநர் சபை உறுப்பினர்களுக்கு எதிராக நூற்றுக்கணக்கான பக்கங்களைக் கொண்ட குற்றச்சாட்டுகளும் ஆதார ஆவணங்களும் தயாரிக்கப்பட்டன. வழக்குகள் தொடரப்படலாம், கைது நடவடிக்கைகள் இடம்பெறலாம் என்ற அச்சம் பரவலாக நிலவியது. எந்த நேரமும் கைது செய்யப்படலாம் என்பதால் சில  உறுப்பினர்கள் கால்சட்டையோடு இரவில் படுத்துறங்கினார்கள்.  அவர்களது குடும்பங்களும் பெரும் கவலையில் இருந்தன.

அந்த நெருக்கடியான நேரத்தில் எம் சார்பில் வழக்கை எதிர்கொள்ள பிரபல குடியியல் சட்டத்தரணி மார்லிஸ் எட்வர்டை (Marlys Edwards) அணுகினோம். அவரை வாரம் இருமுறையாவது அவரது அலுவலகத்தில் நானும் சிற்றம்பலம் மாஸ்டர் அவர்களும் சந்தித்து உரையாடினோம்.  மிகச் சிறந்த சட்ட ஆலோசனையையும் பிரதிநிதித்துவத்தையும் கைம்மாறு கருதாது வழங்கினார். அந்த வழக்கை ஒரு சவாலாக எடுத்துக் கொண்டார். அவரது சட்டப்புலமை, அர்ப்பணிப்பு இரண்டும் அந்த இருண்ட சூழ்நிலையை நாம் தைரியத்தோடு எதிர்கொள்ள வைத்தது.

வழக்குத் தொடர்பாக தமிழ் மக்கள் மத்தியில் எழுந்திருந்த கேள்விகளுக்கு விளக்கம் அளிப்பதற்காக மார்லிஸ் எட்வர்ட் அவர்களின்  அலுவலகத்தில் யூன் 19, 2008 அன்று ஒரு ஊடகவியலாளர் சந்திப்பை ஏற்பாடு செய்தோம். அப்போது சிற்றம்பலம் மாஸ்டர் ஊடகவியலாளர்களுக்கு வழக்கின் தன்மையையும் அதனால் ஏற்படக்கூடிய விளைவுகளையும் விளக்கினார். அவருக்கு அருகில் நான் அமர்ந்திருந்தேன்.

• உலகத் தமிழர் இயக்க உறுப்பினர்களிடம் நிதி திரட்டுமாறு கேட்டுக்கொண்டது தானே என்று அவர் வெளிப்படையாக ஒத்துக் கொண்டார். மேலும்  கனடா அரசு உலகத் தமிழர் இயக்கத்தை பயங்கரவாப் பட்டியல் இட்ட பின்னணியில் எழுந்திருந்த குற்றச்சாட்டுகளின் தன்மையையும் சட்ட நிலைமையையும் விளக்கினார்.
• அமைப்பின் செயற்பாடுகள் தவறாகப் புரிந்துகொள்ளப்பட்டுள்ளன அல்லது தவறாக சித்தரிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன என்று கூறினார்; குறிப்பாக நிதி திரட்டல் நடவடிக்கைகள் குறித்து விளக்கமளித்தார்.
• உறுப்பினர்கள் தனிப்பட்ட முறையில் அல்லாது ஒருங்கிணைந்த மற்றும் வெளிப்படையான அமைப்பாக செயல்பட்டனர் என்பதை வலியுறுத்தினார்.
• அமைப்பின் செயற்பாடுகளுக்கான முழு பொறுப்பையும் தலைமையே ஏற்கும்  என்பதைத் தெளிவுபடுத்தினார்.
• காவல்துறை கைது நடவடிக்கைகள் மேற்கொள்ள வேண்டுமெனில், தன்னை மட்டுமே கைது செய்ய வேண்டும்; மற்ற உறுப்பினர்களை விடுவிக்க வேண்டும். காரணம் தனது பணிப்பின் பேரில்தான் அவர்கள் நிதி சேர்த்தார்கள் என்றும் தெரிவித்தார்.

அவரது அறிவிப்பு அங்கிருந்தவர்களை அதிர்ச்சியிலும் வியப்பிலும் ஆழ்த்தின. பலர் அச்சத்துடனும் பதற்றத்துடனும் இருந்த அந்தச் சூழ்நிலையில், ஒரு தலைவருக்கு உரிய பொறுப்பை முழுமையாக அவர் ஏற்றுக் கொண்டிருந்தார்.  தனது தலைமையின் கீழ் செயல்பட்டவர்களைப் பாதுகாப்பதற்காக தன்னை ஆபத்துக்குள் நிறுத்த அவர் கிஞ்சித்தும் தயங்கவில்லை.

அவரது அறிவிப்பை நான் கூட எதிர்பார்க்கவில்லை. கனடாவில் சிறைச்சாலைக்குச் செல்வது சாதாரண விடயம் அல்ல. சிறைக்குள் அடைக்கப்பட்டிருந்த முன்னாள் உலகத் தமிழர் இயக்கப் பொறுப்பாளரை பல தடவைகள் சந்தித்த அனுபவம் எனக்குண்டு. அந்த நினைவுகள் இன்றும் என்னை அச்சமடைய வைக்கின்றன.

அந்த ஊடகவியலாளர் சந்திப்பு அவரது உண்மையான குணநலனை வெளிப்படுத்தியது. அவர் ஒருபோதும் பிறருக்குப் பின்னால் ஒளிந்துகொள்ளாதவர். பொறுப்பிலிருந்து விலகாதவர். கடமை தவறாதவர். இக்கட்டான சூழ்நிலைகளிலும் அசாதாரண துணிவுடனும் உறுதியுடனும் செயல்பட்டவர்.

இறுதியில் எங்களது சட்டத்தரணி மார்லிஸ் எட்வர்ட் கனடா சட்டமா அதிபருடன் நீண்டகால சமரசப் பேச்சுவார்த்தைகளை அடுத்து  ஒரு உடன்பாட்டை எட்டினார். உலகத் தமிழர் இயக்கத்துக்குச் சொந்தமான வங்கிப் பணம், கணினிகள் மற்றும் சில சொத்துகளை அரசாங்கம் கையகப்படுத்தியது. அதேவேளை வழக்கும் கைவிடப்பட்டது. இது தலைக்கு வந்தது தலைப்பாவோடு போனது போல எங்களுக்கெல்லாம் பெரும் நிம்மதியை அளித்தது.

நான் இன்று இந்த நினைவுகளைப் பகிர்வதன் நோக்கம், எமது சமூகமும் இயக்கமும் எதிர்கொண்ட ஒரு இக்கட்டான காலகட்டத்தில் சிற்றம்பலம் மாஸ்டர் வெளிப்படுத்திய உறுதி, துணிவு மற்றும் தலைமைத்துவப் பண்புகளை நினைவுபடுத்துவதே. அவை மறக்க முடியாதவை. தான் ஒரு தன்னலமற்ற தலைவர் என்பதை சொல்லிலும் செயலிலும் நிரூபித்துக் காட்டினார்.

இந்த உலகில் இரண்டு நிகழ்வுகள்தான் நிச்சயம். ஒன்று வரி. மற்றது மரணம். இரண்டிலிருந்தும் தப்ப முடியாது.

மகாகவி பாரதியார் பாடியதுபோல்:

நோவாலே மடிந்திட்டான் புத்தன் கண்டீர்,
அந்தணனாம் சங்கராசாரியன் மாண்டான்;
அதற்கடுத்த இராமானுஜனும் போனான்;
சிலுவையிலே அடியுண்டு யேசு செத்தான்;
தீயதொரு கணையாலே கண்ணன் மாண்டான்;
பலர் புகழும் இராமனுமே யாற்றில் வீழ்ந்தான்.

மரணம் அனைவருக்கும் பொதுவானது. சிற்றம்பலம் மாஸ்டர் அதற்கு விதிவிலக்கல்ல. அவரது தன்னலமற்ற வாழ்க்கை அவரை நினைவுகூரத்தக்க மனிதராக மாற்றியுள்ளது.

அவரது நினைவிற்கு எனது இறுதி வணக்கத்தைச் செலுத்துகிறேன். அவரது பிள்ளைகள், உற்றார், உறவினர், நண்பர்கள் அனைவருக்கும் எனது ஆழ்ந்த இரங்கல்களைத் தெரிவித்துக்கொள்கிறேன்.

Master Sittampalam, a Devoted Champion of Tamil Nationalism, Has Passed Away

Greetings to all of you.

I stand before you today with a heavy heart.

Master Shittampalam was my friend for 46 years. Our friendship began only after I moved to Nigeria for employment purposes in late 1980. I was working in Bauchi State, while he was employed as a teacher in a school in Kaduna State. The distance between us was about 400 kilometres. Master Sittampalam had gone to Nigeria before me. It was through another friend of mine in Kaduna that I first had the opportunity to meet him. That meeting blossomed into a deep friendship that endured for forty-six years.

Even after both of us migrated to Canada in the late 1980s, our friendship continued. Countries changed. Circumstances changed. But our friendship remained unchanged.

Last Thursday morning, as usual, Master Sittampalam went to the hospital for a routine medical examination. After completing the tests, he returned home around noon. Having eaten lunch, he went to the bathroom and never returned.

He would often tell me, “Mr Thangavelu, I do not wish to lie bedridden and suffer. I want to go suddenly when my time comes.” That wish has now been fulfilled. Death has spared no one.

He was 92 years old when he passed away—one year younger than I am. Yet, on this final journey, he has gone ahead of me. During his college days, he was a talented football player. A football player must know how to run fast. Perhaps that is why he managed to overtake me on this journey.

Until the very end, he would spend hours discussing homeland politics, national politics, and global geopolitics. He remained closely engaged with the political affairs of our homeland. In his later years, Mr Gunanathan and Mrs Revathi Gunanathan—once his students and later his peers—spoke with him almost every day. The bond he shared with them was truly unique.

When he first joined Manipay Hindu College as a teacher after graduating from university, Gunanathan and Revathi were among his students. Love had blossomed between them. But in those days, it was not easy for young lovers to meet and speak openly. Letters served as the bridge between them, and those letters required a messenger. Master Chittrampalam willingly assumed that role.

He himself was a young man then. He understood how deeply love could affect young hearts. Of course, Master was no ordinary young man either. He would reportedly tell his female students that he could read palms and, while holding their hands, predict their future!

You may wonder how I came to know all this.

In the 1990s, the Federation of Tamil Sangams of North America organized an annual three-day convention in the United States. The Canada Tamil Eelam Society was a member organization. Therefore, Sittampalam Master, Gunanathan, Revathi Gunanathan, the late Murugesu Duraisamy, the late Father Xavier, Sivasegaram, my wife, and I would invariably attend.

The journey from Toronto took approximately two days by car, covering thousands of kilometres. During those long drives, no subject was left untouched—politics, literature, arts, culture, religion, philosophy, and God. Heated debates were common. It was during one such journey that the story of Gunanathan and Revathi’s romance, and Master Chittrampalam’s role as their “courier,” came to light.

During the years of the Tamil Eelam struggle, Master Sittampalam was a steadfast supporter and contributor to the liberation movement. Even after the guns fell silent, he would continue to argue that “Tamil Eelam cannot be achieved through non-violence; armed struggle is the only path.” He remained firmly committed to that view until the end of his life.

Master Chittrampalam was always a thoughtful and intellectually driven person. He spoke directly and without hesitation. He devoted himself wholeheartedly to public service.

He served as Secretary and later President of the Tamil Eelam Society. He also served for many years as President of the World Tamil Movement.

On many matters, including politics and religion, he and I shared similar views. We were both rationalists and atheists. He had immense affection for me and for my family.

The last time I met him was at a birthday celebration for Gunanathan Revathi. We sat together, talked at length, and shared a meal. Never did I imagine that it would be our final meeting. Later, on his 92nd birthday, I telephoned to convey my greetings.

Master Chittrampalam feared nothing. He was courageous. When speaking with officials from the Department of Foreign Affairs, he could communicate fluently and fearlessly in English. His command of the language surpassed that of all of us. His passing has revived memories of one of the most challenging periods in the history of the Tamil community in Canada.

In April 2006, the Canadian government listed the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) as a terrorist organization and banned it. Two years later, in June 2008, the World Tamil Movement was also banned.

Following the ban, extensive allegations and supporting documents running into hundreds of pages were prepared against members of the Board of Directors of the World Tamil Movement. There was widespread fear that legal proceedings and arrests could follow. Some members even slept in their trousers, expecting arrest at any moment. Their families lived under tremendous stress and anxiety.

At that critical time, we retained the distinguished civil rights lawyer Marlys Edwards to represent us. Master Chittrampalam and I met her at her office at least twice a week. She provided outstanding legal advice and representation without expectation of reward. She embraced the case as a challenge. Her legal expertise and commitment enabled us to face that dark period with courage.

To address concerns among the Tamil community, we organized a press conference at Ms Marlyss Edwards’ office on June 19, 2008. At that event, Master Chittrampalam explained to journalists the nature of the case and its potential consequences. I was seated beside him.

He openly acknowledged that he had instructed members of the organization to raise funds. He also explained the allegations and legal issues that had arisen following the government’s designation of the World Tamil Movement.

He stated that the organization’s activities had been misunderstood or misrepresented, particularly with regard to fundraising. He emphasized that members had acted collectively and transparently, not as individuals.

Most importantly, he declared that he, as the leader, accepted full responsibility for the organization’s activities.

He went further and stated that if the police intended to make arrests, they should arrest him alone and release the other members because they had raised funds under his direction.

His statement astonished everyone present. At a time when many were fearful and anxious, he assumed the full responsibility expected of a leader. He did not hesitate for a moment to place himself at risk in order to protect those who had worked under his leadership.

I did not expect such a declaration. Going to prison in Canada is no trivial matter. I had personally visited a former World Tamil Movement organizer while he was incarcerated, and those memories still unsettle me.

That press conference revealed his true character. He was never one to hide behind others. He never evaded responsibility. He never failed in his duty. Even in the most difficult circumstances, he acted with extraordinary courage and determination.

Eventually, after lengthy negotiations with the Attorney General of Canada, our lawyer, Marlyss Edwards, struck a settlement. The government confiscated the WTM’s certain bank funds, computers, and a few other assets belonging to the World Tamil Movement. At the same time, the case itself was dropped. It was a tremendous relief to all of us.

I share these memories today because they illustrate the determination, courage, and leadership qualities that Master Sittampalam displayed during one of the most difficult periods faced by our community and our movement. Those qualities are unforgettable. Through both words and deeds, he proved himself to be a selfless leader.

There are only two certainties in this world: taxes and death. Neither can be escaped.

As Mahakavi Bharathiyar wrote:

Buddha died of illness, as you know;
Sankaracharya too passed away;
Ramanuja followed thereafter;
Jesus died upon the Cross;
Krishna fell to a fatal arrow;
Even the celebrated Rama met his end.

Death is common to all. Yet not every life is remembered. The manner in which Master Sittampalam lived has made him a man worthy of remembrance.

I offer my final respects to his memory. I extend my deepest condolences to his children, relatives, friends, and all those who mourn his loss.
